I've been on the journey of learning and practicing in trading for years. One of my most important realization is that the result of any trader has only very little to do with trading skills and techniques, but 90% of the battle is actually in the mind. What truly sets a great trader apart from the average ones, is in their state of mind and psychology.
As I was trying to learn this missing link of trading psychology besides trading skills, I came across a very interesting training called "The Samurai Game". By using the principles practiced by Samurai in the ancient Japan, the game leads participants to self discovery and opening up their awareness to every of their own action.
After several times being a participant and a facilitator for this game, I got even more intrigued to research and understand deeper on the principles and belief system of the Samurai, the Bushido.
I soon realized that the principles that the Samurai lived by are exactly what a trader should practice to greatly improve on their psychology of trading. There's too many similarity to the requirement of being a great Samurai and being a great trader. If the Samurai of ancient Japan time-travel to modern day and become traders, they must be the most powerful and profitable bunch of traders.
However, just by going through this Samurai Game and understanding the principles doesn't transform an ordinary trader into a trading Samurai overnight. It takes long practice. No shortcut. This blog will be a documentation and sharing of my own journey and realization in the process of becoming a Samurai trader.
Of course not to forget that the trading system I was taught, SRDC; and the candle stick chart that we use, has its origin from the Japan as well, which made it a perfect fit for the title of this blog.
